Support Equipment Required
2. This Work Package (WP) contains information for
connectors manufactured in accordance with
HT-900B (or equivalent)
Tool, Crimp, Frame
3. DESCRIPTION. These connectors are circular
threaded and of the AN Type. The connectors are rated
for specified operation with a temperature range of
-67°F (-55°C) to +392°F (+200°C) depending upon the
class. The upper temperature is the maximum internal
hotspot temperature resulting from any combination
of electrical load and ambient condition.
4. WIRE SEALING. Wire sealing is accomplished by
the use of a grommet seal which is designed to seal

against outside diameter of inserted wire. The outer
diameter shall be within applicable size range. See
NAVAIR 01-1A-505-1 (WP 025 00).
5. MIL-DTL-5015 SERIES.
As all NAVAIR connector and accessory
documents are transitioned to non-government
standards, (the Society of Automotive
Engineers (SAE), will become the preparing
activity and the Navy will adopt the
documents), the drawing number prefix will
change from MS to AS. The main part number
designation remains the same, with the "M"
prefix, such as M81511/17-08. At times the
entire item may be superseded by another.
Tool, Insertion, Metal
There are many cases where documents have
been cancelled without replacements, each case
was reviewed and some information has been
retained in this volume "for reference use only".
6. MIL-DTL-5015 Series connectors are environment
resistant and come in three varied contact features. The
basic design feature (Figure 1) is typical for all
MIL-DTL-5015 connectors. However, the contacts are
either non-removable soldered (except contacts in sizes
0, 4, and 8), removable crimp front release, or removable
crimp rear release.

7. GROMMET SEALING PLUGS. The grommets of
environment resisting connectors are designed to accept
sealing plugs in accordance with MIL-DTL-5015 to be
used where unwired contacts are placed. The connector,
when ordered as a unit, will have sealing plugs enclosed
to equal 15 percent of the number of contacts but not
less than one.
