Section II. DEFINITION OF UNUSUAL TERMS
Athermalization
- The compensation in the optical path that corresponds to temperature changes.
Backlash
- The mechanical resistance to the movement of one object by another.
Boresight
- The alinement of the optical system by use of a fixed target.
Breakaway torque - The amount of force required to produce movement of an object.
Channelbalance - The procedure used to produce uniform sensitivity of the selected target scene
which consists of 180 channels.
Collimator lens
- An optical device that creates a beam made of parallel rays of light.
Interface device - The equipment connected between the item being tested and the AH-64A
test set.
Raster
- The electronically produced area on a television picture tube where an image is
produced.
Reticle
- A system of lines or crosshairs in the focus of the eyepiece of an
optical instrument.
Vidicon
- Television camera tube that scans a target scene.
Zoom
- Continuously variable magnification.
