Table 15. MIL-C-81511, Series 3 Power and Thermocouple Tooling
76. TOOLING. The procedures for attaching power
and thermocouple contacts is the same for both Series
1 and 2. Select the proper tooling for the specific contact
part number (Table 15 and 16). Refer to NAVAIR
01-1A-505-1, WP 013 00 for correct assembly and crimp
procedures.
77. STEP STRIPPING FILTER LINE. Termination of
AWG-22 filter line in MIL-C-81511 connectors with size
22 contacts may require a step stripping procedure to
reduce the insulation diameter in the grommet area to
allow clearance for the contact removal and insertion
tool (NAVAIR 01-1A-505-1 WP 009 00, see coaxial cable
stripping).
78. COAXIAL CONTACTS. When routing coaxial
cable through connectors, coaxial contacts are superior
to other coaxial cable shield termination methods. The
shield integrity is maintained across the contact body.
Socket coaxial contacts have a pin center contact. Pin
coaxial contacts have a socket center contact
(Figure 27).
79. CABLE AND COAXIAL CONTACT ASSEMBLY.
To assemble the coaxial contacts to the applicable cable
identify the cable by part number. Select the proper
Figure 27. MIL-C-81511 Series 3 and 4 Coaxial
contact by size and cable part number (Table 17 and
Contact Components (Size 12 and 16)
18). Assemble as shown in Figure 28.
80. BACHSHELL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION.
For removal and installation refer to WP 004 03.
