2-23. Power Absorption System Installation.
Install the power absorption system as follows:
a.
Install the bellmouth assembly (3, figure 219) on
the inlet screen assembly (4). Tighten bolts and
lockwire.
b.
Install the bellmouth and inlet screen assemblies
on the engine using the V-band clamp (5). Tighten
clamp to 60 + 5 inch-pounds torque.
c.
Install two ambient thermocouple assemblies (30)
on the bellmouth assembly (3) using screws (31).
d.
Position the transition cone assembly (6) and
engine adapter (10) on the inlet housing assembly and
secure using bolts (11). Ensure that adapter tongues
are positioned at 6 and 12 o'clock.
e.
Install hose assembly (7), nipple (8), and drain
bottle (9) on transition cone assembly drain. (See
paragraph 2-22b(20).) f. Install the rear cone (12) and
splined hub (13) on the propeller shaft.
g.
Apply lubricant conforming to Specification MIL-
M-7866 to the prop nut (15) threads.
h.
Install the front cone (14) and prop nut (15).
Restrain the propeller shaft with spanner wrench
LTCT7021Y and tighten the prop nut with spanner
wrench LTCT10316 to 725 + 25 foot-pounds torque.
i.
Ensure that the holes in the propeller shaft and
prop nut are aligned, then install the lock ring (16).
j.
Apply lubricant conforming to Specification MIL-
M-7866 to bolts (19).
