the switching functions of the data selector assembly. These readouts are displayed on the
appropriate digital indicator. The use of the data selector assembly requires the selection of a
function switch and MAN switch 45. Switch numbers and functions are defined in table 3-1.
3-5. Calculations Required.
The performance of a gas turbine engine is significantly affected by barometric pressure and
ambient temperature. During test of an engine, calculations must be accomplished for
determining shaft horsepower at atmospheric conditions other than standard day sea level
conditions (29.92 inches hg at 59F). Power absorption for each engine is provided by the
applicable water brake assembly to simulate the loads imposed on the engine under actual
operating conditions at different power settings. Torque of the output shaft is sensed at the
torque element assembly, which is checked prior to daily use.
