Description
AUDIO - Enables Mode 4 REPLY light and Mode 4 audio tone.
NOTE
Mode 4 audio tone indicates wrong code selected. Audio tone will change fre-
quency with interrogation rate up to 1 kHz. LIGHT Enables Mode 4 REPLY light;
disables Mode 4 audio tone.
OUT - Disables Mode 4 REPLY light and Mode 4 audio tone.
NOTE
Mode 4 Caution light is enabled at all times. If Mode 4 is in use, the MODE 4 AU-
DIO/LIGHT/OUT switch should always be set to LIGHT or AUDIO.
10
ABOVE/NORM/BELOW (Altitude Volume) three-position switch.
TCAS
ABOVE: Display altitude volume is -2,700 to 8,700 ft.
NORM: Display altitude volume is -2,700 to 2,700 ft.
BELOW: Display altitude volume is -8,700 to 2,700 ft.
E-TCAS
ABOVE: Display altitude volume is -2,700 to 12,700 ft.
NORM: Display altitude volume is -2,700 to 2,700 ft.
BELOW: Display altitude volume is -12,700 to 2,700 ft.
NOTE
If ANT TEST is enabled via SEL B menu selection, then ABOVE/NORM/BELOW
becomes TOP/DIV/BOT antenna select, respectively (TOP position selects Top An-
tenna; DIV position selects Antenna Diversity; BOT position selects Bottom An-
tenna).
11
IDENT/OUT/MIC three-position switch.
IDENT - Enables transponder to reply with Special Position Identiication (SPI) pulse for 15
to 30 seconds. Momentary switch position.
OUT - Disables generation of SPI pulse. Normal switch position. MIC - Each time microphone is
keyed, enables transponder to reply with SPI pulse for 15 to 30 seconds.
12
M4 REPLY indicator.
Provides visual indication of Mode 4 reply being transmitted (press to test; turn clockwise to
dim). Disabled when MODE 4 AUDIO/LIGHT/OUT switch is set to OUT.
3-24. TRAFFIC COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM (TCAS II CAS 67A).
TCAS II is a system used for detecting and tracking aircraft in the vicinity of your own aircraft. By interrogating their
transponders it analyzes the replies to determine range, bearing, and if reporting altitude, the relative altitude of
the intruder. Should the TCAS II processor determine that a possible collision hazard exists, it issues visual and
audio advisories to the crew for appropriate vertical avoidance maneuvers. The center MFD will display the relative
position and altitude cues with appropriate color-coding for target recognition. The pilot and copilot PFD vertical
speed indicator will display the appropriate no-ly and ly-to zones for target resolution advisory. Utilize the Universal
EFI-890R operator s manual for full description and operation.
