Opening the Portable Computer Unit (PCU)
The PCU is equipped with display latch buttons located on both sides of the computer. To open your PCU for
use, press both display latch buttons simultaneously and raise the display to the desired position.
NOTE
For initial setup and for the most current ghosting procedures, insert the latest version
of the PFPS Bootable Ghost DVD and open the SOP Build Disk From Ghost.DOC file
to obtain the standard operating procedure (SOP).
Power Up the PCU
Press the ON/STANDBY push button on the Power Panel of the PCU. Note that the power (PWR) indicator will
be light green. The Windows operating system will start its boot up sequence.
Adjusting PCU Lighting
Display Brightness Adjustment
To adjust the PCU display brightness, press the up arrow key pushbutton to increase the brightness. Press the
down arrow key to decrease the brightness.
Keyboard Backlighting
The PCU keyboard comes equipped with a backlight. Press the Backlight key to turn the keyboard backlighting
on or off. The keyboard backlighting will extinguish when the computer goes into the Standby Mode.
Momentarily press the On/Standby button to reactivate the backlighting.
PCU Modes
Blackout Mode
The PCU comes equipped with a Blackout Mode capability. Press the Blackout Key to extinguish the display and
keyboard backlighting. With the Blackout Mode active, press the Blackout Key to deactivate the Blackout Mode
and return to normal operations.
Standby Mode
The Standby Mode is used to conserve power by shutting down the display, keyboard backlighting, hard disk
operation, and placing the processor in the reduced activity mode. To configure the PCU to activate the Standby
Mode after a specific period of time, refer to Windows operating system help on the PCU. The default
setting is 30 minutes. After 30 minutes of no activity on the PCU, Standby Mode will be automatically activated.
To place the PCU in the Standby Mode manually and immediately, momentarily press the ON/STANDBY button.
When the PCU is in the Standby Mode, the power (PWR) indicator will be lit yellow. To resume normal
operation, momentarily press the ON/STANDBY button.
