TM 55-4920-328-13
2-6. Initial Servicing Instructions.
WARNING
Observe all base safety and fire regulations
when handling fuels and turbine lubricating
oils. Failure to observe this warning may
result in serious or fatal injury.
a. After the visual inspection of the METS
systems and components, accomplish the servicing
instructions in chapter 5 for the following auxiliary
systems and subsystems:
Fuel System
Water System
Oil System
Air System
Portable Oil Unit
Hydraulic Control Subsystem
b. Prior to initial use and each time a test is to be
accomplished, open the drain valve (8, figure 1-18) to
drain the condensate from the air storage tank (5).
2-7. Installation of T55 Engine Accessories in-
strumentation.
After receipt of the equipment and prior to operation,
certain instrumentation contained in the T55 engine
accessories must be installed. Proceed as follows:
a. Obtain the T55-L-7 torque indicator (2, figure
2-7) or T55-L-11/712 torque indicator (3) and inverter
(6), as applicable, and attaching parts from the T55
engine accessories kit.
b. Slide the operator's panel assembly 3A1 (11)
out to the full travel of the left and right track slides.
c. Remove the circular cover (72, figure 7-17)
(second cover from the right) from the front panel of the
unit by removing the attaching parts. Place the cover
and attaching parts in a cloth bag, attach an
identification tag, and store.
d. To install the T55-L-7 torque indicator (2,
figure 2-7) insert the indicator in the hole in the front
panel and install four screws (5) and four nuts (4),
provided in the T55 engine accessories. Do not
electrically connect the indicator until connection
instructions are provided in the text relative to
installation of the T55 engine accessories.
e. To install the T55-L-11/712 torque indicator
(3), insert the indicator in the front panel and install the
flange (1), four screws (5), and four nuts (4). Do not
electrically connect the indicator at this time.
f. For the T55-L-11/712, install the inverter (6) in
the lower left portion of the 3A1 chassis, using screws
(9), washers (8), and nuts (7), provided in the T55
engine accessories. Do not electrically connect the
inverter at this time.
2-7.1 T700 METS Test Adapter Instrumentation.
Certain instrumentation and other accessories are
initially provisioned with the T700 METS test adapter
and are permanently installed to modify the METS to
include T700 engine testing capabilities. Such items are
listed in the adapter parts list in chapter 7 and include
the following principal components:
· T700 Control Panel Insert (230, figure 7-49)
(Insert to Operator's Panel 3A3)
· Control Panel Meter Harness (189)
· Control Panel Harness (190)
· Stabilizer (209)
· Charge Amplifier (213) and Charge Amplifier
Rack (214) with High-Pass and Low-Pass Filters
(216 and 217)
· Vibration Meter Harness (191)
· Ng and Np Indicators (212)
· Lube Oil Pressure Instrument (210)
· Lube Water Filter System (228)
· E3 Harness (144)
· El OMEGA Harness (147)
· Engine Torque Indicator (Figure 7-55)
With the exception of the lube water filter system,
E3 Harness and El OMEGA harness, all equipment
listed above is installed in the control cab as described
in chapter 1.
2-8. Functions of Controls and Indicators.
The functions of METS instrumentation controls
and indicators are listed in table 2-5. The table provides
information on the figure number in which the
component is depicted, the part nomenclature, and the
reference designation, when applicable.
