Obvious heat discoloration is defined
as any shade of blueing which can not
be rubbed off with a pencil eraser.

Hubs
Change 11
Inspect blade tips for heat
discoloration on one or
more blades. Heat
discoloration is caused by
severe blade rub on the
compressor case plastic
lining which occurs when
the wheels shift off center
due to an unbalance
condition. Replace
compressor assembly if
heat discoloration is
detected.
Inspect compressor rotor
blades and wheel hubs for
nicks, dents and scratches
in areas other than the
blade leading and trailing
edges. All damages and
imperfections must be
blended out. Blended
areas must not exceed the
limits shown in the
following figure.
