Push the torque element shaft forward to
the limit of travel, then measure the distance from the
aft end of the shaft to the aft attaching face of the torque
element. Record this measurement as dimension B.

Subtract dimension A from B. The resultant
dimension C is the clearance required for selection of
bumper (1 or 2) to be used at assembly of the torque
element with the engine.

Select the bumper (1 or 2) conforming to
dimension C determined in the previous step, then
install the selected bumper.

Install sling assembly (12) on assembled water
brake assembly (18) and torque system assembly (13).
m.
Using a suitable hoisting device, lift and
mate the aft face of the torque system assembly (13) to
the forward housing of the engine. Secure the assembly
with the attaching parts provided with the engine and
tighten the nuts to 85 + 10 inch-pounds torque, then
lockwire the attaching parts.

CAUTION
Exercise caution when mating the Internal and
external splines, and when the aft face of the torque
system Is mated to the engine. Failure to observe
this precaution may result In equipment damage.

Disconnect and remove lifting sling.

Install torque element bellmouth assembly (4
through 13, figure 7-33) around torque element.
Secure bellmouth assembly with fasteners.

Install air inlet outer bellmouth assembly (1, figure
2-13) around the torque system and secure with V-band
clamp (2). Tighten V-band clamp to 60 + 5 inch-pounds
torque.
q.
Install thermocouple assemblies (8), covers (11
and 12), and plugs (7) in bellmouth (1).
r.
Install inlet screen assembly (3).
s.
Install water brake water-in manifold (4) and
water-out manifold (5).
t.
Install drain bottle (6) on torque element oil
collector drain hose.
