TM 55-4920-328-13
Section XI. CONVERSION KIT FRAME ASSEMBLY MAINTENANCE
6-43. Scope.
Maintenance of the T63 conversion kit frame
assembly consists of a daily inspection of the assembly,
incremental maintenance actions at 100hour and 200-
hour intervals on the flexible coupling and pillow block
bearings.
6-44. Daily Inspection.
Inspect the frame assembly daily in accordance with
the following:
a.
Inspect the flexible coupling shield (3, figure 6-
12) for damage. Ensure that the shield does not contact
the flexible coupling.
b.
Inspect attaching nuts and bolts for damaged
threads, cracks, and security of attachment.
6-45. 100-Hour Maintenance.
The 100-hour maintenance of frame assembly
consists of a lubrication check on the flexible coupling
(22, figure 6-12).
a.
Remove the flexible coupling shield (3).
b.
Position the flexible coupling with the lube plugs
in the horizontal position and remove the plugs from
each coupling sleeve.
c.
If the coupling is not full (level with the bottom
of the lube holes) fill with grease conforming to
Specification MIL-C-25760.
d.
Install the coupling lube plugs.
e.
Install the coupling shield (3).
6-46. 200-Hour Maintenance.
The 200-hour maintenance of the frame assembly
consists of lubrication of the flexible coupling (22, figure
6-12) and pillow blocks (8,9).
a.
Remove the flexible coupling shield (3).
b.
Position the flexible coupling (22) with the lube
plugs in the horizontal position and remove the plugs
from each coupling sleeve.
c.
Apply grease conforming to Specification MIL-
G-25760 to each coupling until clean grease flows from
the lube hole on the opposite side. Install the lube
plugs.
d.
Install the coupling shield (3).
e.
Lubricate the pillow blocks (8,9) at each 200
operating hour interval using two ounces of grease
conforming to Specification MIL-G-25760.
6-47. Disassembly and Reassembly of Frame
Assembly.
The following procedures are for disassembly and
reassembly of the frame assembly when component
parts are to be removed for inspection or replacement.
a.
Disassembly. Disassemble the frame assembly
to the extent required for inspection or replacement of
component parts as follows:
(1)
Remove the flexible coupling shield (3,
figure 6-12) by removing bolts (1) and nuts (2).
CAUTION
When disassembling the flexible
coupling and removing the hubs,
ensure that each part Is identified
for
reassembly.
Failure
to
reassemble
the
coupling
as
originally configured may cause
high vibration and destruction of
water brake seals.
