5. 28 VDC utility power supply assembly
4A4. The 28v dc utility power supply assembly (48,
figure 1-25) is a standard, 19-inch, rackmounted unit
installed near the bottom of the front portion of the
services sub-module (Unit 4). The unit consists of a
chassis assembly utilizing a front panel and a track slide
assembly on each side panel of the unit. The front
panel is provided with left and right handles and four
retaining screws to facilitate attachment in the cabinet
assembly. The power supply unit is located on the rear
side of the front panel. The front panel mounts a dc
voltmeter and a dc ammeter. The voltmeter has a
range of 0 to 36v dc and the ammeter has a range of 0
to 20 ADC. A combination on-off switch and circuit
breaker is located on the front panel between the two
meters. Voltage and current controls are located below
the corresponding meter on the front panel. Input power
to the unit is connected at two 1/4-28 UNF studs on the
rear panel. Two connectors A4J1 and A4J2 are installed
on the rear face of the unit for connection with other
electrical components of the system. Refer to table 1-1
for additional leading particulars of the 28v dc utility
power supply assembly.
(i) Control power module (Unit 5). The
control power module (figure 1-26) consists of a sheet
metal bridge which provides an enclosure and mounting
surface for two power control panel assemblies. The
bridge is 41.00 inches wide, 9.75 inches high, and 16.38
inches deep. The significant components are described
in the following text.

No. 1 Power Control Panel Assembly
1.
No. 2 Power control panel assembly.
The No. 2 power control panel assembly (1, figure 1-26)
consists of a chassis assembly 19.00 inches wide, 6.97
inches high, and 8.70 inches deep. The chassis
assembly front panel mounts a START/ RUN SWITCH
(4), a START SYSTEM DRIVE indicator (3), and a HYD
TEMP HIGH indicator (2). Terminal board assembly
TB1 is installed in the chassis assembly. The rear panel
mounts

circuits.
The
START/RUN switch (4) is positioned to START, to start
the gasoline-driven engine in the hydraulic start system.
When the engine reaches normal operating speed and
the associated hydraulic pump is prepared to deliver
system pressure, the START SYSTEM DRIVE indicator
light (3) comes on. At this time, the START/RUN switch
is positioned to RUN. If hydraulic fluid temperature rises
above a pre-set limit, a thermal switch opens to interrupt
the ignition circuit to the gasoline engine and deenergize
a solenoid-operated valve to shut off hydraulic power to
the engine hydraulic starter. The HYD TEMP HIGH
indicator (2) comes on to indicate and out-of-tolerance
condition in the hydraulic start system. Control of
engine speed is maintained by adjusting the position of
the HYD STARTER ENGINE SPEED switch (5).
Operating instructions for the hydraulic start system are
provided in chapter 3.
2. No. 1 Power control panel assembly.
The No. 1 power control panel assembly (32, figure 1-
26) utilizes a chassis assembly which mounts a front
panel 19.00 inches wide, 6.97 inches high, and 8.70
inches deep. The front panel is equipped with left and
right handles and
