Electrical unit Aviation Intermediate Maintenance (AVIM) procedures are those accomplished with
the panel removed from the case. Procedures include inspection and cleaning of the interior, replace-
ment of components, and adjustment and testing. Test equipment required for maintenance is listed in
table 4-1. Consumables are included in table 4-2.
High voltage (115-volt 60-Hz ac) is used in this equipment. Death on
contact or serious injury can result if personnel do not observe safety
precautions. Be careful not to touch high voltage connections when
performing maintenance.

Release four latches and remove the cover from the case.
Loosen 10 captive screws (55, fig. 6-3) securing the panel/chassis (7, fig. 6-1) to the case.
Lift the panel from the case. Use the handles.
Remove three screws (2, fig. 6-3) securing the rear hinged panel to the chassis. Open the rear
panel.

a. Make sure the rear panel can be opened and closed without binding.
b. Inspect all parts for loose or missing mounting hardware.
c. Inspect the power supplies and circuit boards for overheated or cracked components.
d. Make sure meter cases are not cracked or otherwise damaged.
e. Inspect wiring. Make sure wires are not broken or insulation frayed or otherwise damaged.
