CAUTION
Where there is minimal clearance between the grip halves and the
rear of the grommet, extend the tape to the lower edge of the grip
halves only. This will minimize splaying the wires in the grommet
and prevent the connector for loosing moisture seal.
Determine snugness of the wire bundle within the grip halves by
visual means only. Do not rotate the wire bundle or otherwise
strain the harness to prevent damage to the connector insert or the
contacts.
h. Install saddle clamps and screws. Tighten screws to snug do not over tighten.
15. EMI CABLE CLAMP BACKSHELL PART NUMBER 527401 INSTALLATION. Install EMI Cable Clamp
Backshell as follows:
a. Prepare the wire shields by positioning the pigtails in the aft position flat against the wire bundle uniformly
distributing them around the circumference of the bundle. Temporarily tape the ends of the pigtails against the wire
bundle. Secure shield(s) on each of the A and B bundles with A-A-52083 or A-A-52084 lacing tape approximately 2.25
to 2.50 inches aft of the jacket end strips of the cables. See Figure 18.
b. Separate the split backshell and retain screws for installation later. See Figure 19.
NOTE
Install the Upper half of backshell over cables with insert modules
fitted in connector.
c. Apply ASTMD5363AN0311P12 sealing compound onto the threads of the polarization hex screw on the EPXB
connector.
d. Mount the Upper half backshell onto the rear of the connector and torque to 1014 inch-pounds.
