12. EMI BACKSHELL PART NUMBER 527281 INSTALLATION. Install EMI backshell as follows:
NOTE
This installation requires that the cables be inserted into the
backshell cavities prior to inserting the contacts into the EPXB
insert modules.
Stretch Teflon tape to help it adhere better to the wire bundle.
a. Prepare the wire shields by positioning the pigtails in the aft position flat against the wire bundle uniformly
distributing them around the circumference of the bundle. Temporarily tape the ends of the pigtails against the wire
bundle. Secure shield(s) on each of the A and B bundles with A-A-52083 or A-A-52084 lacing tape approximately 2.25
to 2.50 inches aft of the jacket end strips of the cables. See Figure 11.
b. Slide the backshell forward, positioning it between the EPXB connector and the lacing tape. See figure 12.
c. Remove the temporary tape holding shield ends.
d. Fold the remaining length of each shield back over the lacing tape toward
the backshell. See Figure 13.
e. Evenly distribute the shields and insert it into the nearest slot on the sides of the cable entry hole of the
backshell. Distribute the shields as much as possible among the slots on the sides of backshell to prevent excess buildup
or stress on the shields. See Figure 13.
