f. Apply ASTMD5363AN0311P12 sealing compound onto the assembly thread of the polarization hex threads.
g. While preventing the shields from coming out of the slots on the side of the backshell, slide the backshell
forward and install it to the EPXB connector using a flat head screwdriver and torque wrench. Torque to 1014 inch-
pounds.
h. With the backshell attach to the connector, gently pull any excess shields so that the shields lay relatively flat
over the bundle. Take care not to place any undue stress on the shields.
i. Fold shields aft towards the wire bundle and secure using a metal band. Refer to NA01-1A-505-1, WP 011 02.
See Figure 14.

13. NON-EMI CABLE CLAMP BACKSHELL PART NUMBER 527402 INSTALLATION. Install Non-EMI
Cable Clamp Backshell as follows:
a. Remove the saddle clamp and screws and retain for installation later. See Figure 15.
b. Slide the saddle clamp backshell onto the cables fitted with EPXB insert modules.
CAUTION
The backshell can only be mounted onto the EPXB connector one
way, ensure that the cable assemblies are located in its designated
insert cavities.
c. Install the EPXB insert module into its designated connector cavities.
d. Apply ASTMD5363AN0311P12 sealing compound onto the threads of the polarization hex screw on the EPXB
connector.
e. Mount the backshell onto the rear of the connector and torque to 1014 inch-pounds.
CAUTION
Install a minimum of one overlapping layer of MIL-I-22444C tape
between the wire bundle and the saddle clamp.
Install adequate tape to assure a snug fit, but without preventing the
grip halves from bottoming out against each other.
