PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
CHECKS AND SERVICES (PMCS)
GENERAL
Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) will ensure that the Aviation Mission Planning System
(AMPS) equipment will be ready for operation at all times. Preventive maintenance checks consist of performing
a systematic inspection to discover defects before they result in operational failure of the equipment. Defects or
malfunctions discovered by the crew during use of the AMPS equipment, or as a result of performing
maintenance checks and services, will be reported using the proper maintenance reporting procedures IAW DA
PAM 738-751, Functional Users Guide for the Army Maintenance Management System Aviation (TAMMS-A).
The operator/crew and organizational preventive maintenance checks and services are listed on Table 1. An
explanation of that table is listed below.
EXPLANATION OF COLUMNS ON THE PMCS CHART
Column (1), Item Number, gives you the number of each procedure to be performed.
Column (3), Item to be inspected, gives the common name of the item to be serviced or checked.
Column (3), Intervals, designates the interval when each check is to be performed. The following interval
symbols apply to the AMPS:

Column (4), Procedures, information required to accomplish each check or service, including lubrication,
appropriate tolerances, adjustment limits, and instrument gauge readings.
