d. Connect the positive (+) lead of cable assembly
(12, figure 2-44) to terminal C on the starter assembly.
Connect the negative (-) lead of the cable assembly to
terminal E on the starter assembly. Insert the connector
on the opposite end to the mating receptacle on the
electric start system.
e.
Open the door of the trailer assembly cable tray
and connect the following cable assemblies to the
respective connectors in the data acquisition assembly:
(1) Connect cable assembly W1 to J1.
(2) Connect cable assembly W2 to J2.
(3) Connect cable assembly W3 to J3.
(4) Connect cable assembly W4 to J4.
(5) Connect cable assembly W5 to J5.
(6) Connect cable assembly W6 to J6.
f.
Attach the hose assembly (13) to the water
brake water return connection and attach the other end
of the hose assembly to the mating quick-disconnect
coupling on the test trailer frame.
g.
Connect the hose assembly (14) to the lower
fitting on the water brake supply manifold assembly, and
connect the other end of the hose assembly to the water
supply quick-disconnect coupling on the test trailer
frame.
h.
Connect the quick-disconnect coupler on the
hose assembly (15) to the water brake bearing water
supply coupling on the test trailer frame.
i.
Connect the coupler on the hose assembly (16)
to the water brake air supply coupling on the test trailer
frame.
j.
Connect the coupler on the hose assembly (17)
to the fuel supply coupling on the test trailer frame.
k. Connect the coupler on the hose assembly (18)
to the T74 oil supply coupling on the test trailer frame.
I.
Connect the coupler on the hose assembly (19)
to the oil return coupling on the test trailer frame.
m. Provide overboard drain containers and place
an overboard drain hose assembly in each container.
n.
Connect the NI throttle control linkage as
outlined in paragraph 2-52.
2-52.
Installation of T74 NI Controls.
Install the NI control linkage as shown in figure 2-45,
observing the following:
a.
Install the bracket (1) on the engine test dolly
mount ring, using four bolts (2) and four washers (3).
NOTE
The NI slave unit specified in the
following
step
is
a
part
of
the
permanently-connected
test
trailer
equipment.
b.
Install the NI slave unit (4) on the bracket (1),
using three bolts (5), three washers (7), and three nuts
(6).
c.
Install one nut (8) and one rod end (9) on each
end of the rod (10). Do not tighten the nuts at this time.
d.
Adjust the center-to-center distance between the
holes in the rod ends (9) to 20.25 inches, then tighten
the nuts (8).
e.
Disconnect the aft end of the fuel control unit
control rod (11) from the control lever (12). Reinstall the
attaching parts in the free end of the control rod to
facilitate reinstallation after engine test.
f.
Secure the control rod (11) to a non-moving part
on the engine. Ensure freedom from interference
between the control rod and engine parts or accessories.
g.
Attach one end of the rod (10) (and assembled
parts) to the upper hole in the control lever, using the
bolt (13), spacer (14), washer (15), and nut (16).
h. Position the NI master control unit in the control
cab to align the rod end (9) with the end hole in the
slave unit lever arm.
i.
Attach the other end of the rod (10) to the lever
arm of the slave unit, using the bolt (18), spacer (17),
washer (19), and nut (20).
j.
Position the NI linkage such that the control
lever (12) is at Ground Idle. (The master control unit
lever arm will automatically move to the corresponding
position in the control cab.)
k.
Use a non-destructive pencil, to mark the
Ground Idle position on the master control unit quadrant,
then measure 56 degrees of arc on the quadrant in the
forward (throttle advanced) direction and mark this
point.
