TM 55-4920-328-13
i.
Restrain the hub (14) with a strap wrench and
tighten the nut to 1200 + 50 inch-pounds torque, using
the wrench (18). Remove the wrenches and install the
cotter pin (19). Bend both legs of the cotter pin to
secure the installation.
j.
Install the ball bushing assembly (20) on the
studs of the engine power output shaft shroud, using the
nuts (21) provided as engine equipment.
k.
Install the gasket (22) and NI tachometer
generator (23) as shown in view D, using four washers
(24) and four nuts (25).
I.
Use the hoist to carefully lower and guide the
engine into the mount stand assembly (26). Guide the
ball bushing assembly (20) through the mating hole in
the plate in the aft end of the mount stand assembly.
Ensure that the bearings (5, 11) are aligned with the
mating grooves in the forward attaching points on the
mount stand assembly. Do not release the tension on
the engine sling assembly (1) at this time.
m.
Attach the adapter (27) to the ball bushing
assembly (20), using 10 capscrews (28). Tighten and
lockwire the capscrews.
n.
Align the installed adapter (27) with the
counterboard hole in the aft plate of the mount stand
assembly (26).
o.
Align the torque element assembly (29) with the
holes in the adapter (27) and with the hole pattern in the
aft vertical plate on the mount stand assembly (26).
Ensure that the torque element cable assembly is at the
9 o'clock position.
p.
Place 12 washers (30) on 12 bolts (31) then
insert the bolts through the mating holes in the vertical
plate of the mount stand assembly (26) and adapter (27)
to secure the torque element assembly (29). Engage
the bolt threads in the torque element assembly
approximately five turns each, readjust the alignment of
the assembled parts, then alternately tighten the bolts to
the standard torque value specified in chapter 6 of this
technical manual. Lockwire the bolts after tightening.
q. Check to ensure that the bearings (5, 11) are
correctly positioned on the forward mounting points on
the mount stand assembly (26).
r.
Position the bearing retainers (32) over the
bearings (5, 11), then install two washers (33) and two
bolts (34), each side as shown in view F. Tighten and
lockwire the bolts.
s.
Remove and stow the engine sling assembly (1)
in a convenient area for reuse after engine test.
t. Install the bracket (35) on the vertical end plate
of the mount stand assembly (26), using four washers
(36) and four screws (37).
u.
Attach the upper heat shield assembly (38) to
the bracket, using four washers (39) and four bolts (40'
v.
Attach the left and right bracket assemblies (41,
42), using two washers (43) and two bolts (44), each
side.
w.
Install the heat shield assembly (45) using the
left and right pins (46), two places each side.
x.
Install the bracket assembly (47) on the side
frame of the mount stand assembly (26), using two bolts
(48), two washers (49), and two nuts (50).
y.
Position the data acquisition assembly (52) on
the shock mounts on the channels of the engine test
dolly assembly (51) and align the attaching holes in the
bracket assembly (47) and shock mounts. Install the
bolts (53, 57), washers (54, 56), and nuts (55).
2-57. Installation of Water Brake Assembly.
Install the water brake assembly on the torque
element assembly as shown in figure 2-49, and as
follows:
a.
Insert the shaft (1) through the ball bushing to
engage the splines of the hub (14, figure 2-48). Ensure
that the match marks on the two parts are aligned.
b.
Install the packing (2, figure 2-49) and backup
ring (3) on the splined adapter (4).
c.
Install the splined adapter (4) on the water brake
assembly using the washer (5) and spanner nut (6).
Tighten the spanner nut finger-tight.
d.
Restrain the splined adapter (4) with the
LTCT22134-01 strap wrench tool, then tighten the
spanner nut (6) to 1300 + 100 inch-pounds torque, using
the LTCT22135-01 spanner nut tool. Bend one tab of
the washer (5) into a slot to secure the installation.
e.
Attach one plate (7) on each side of the water
brake assembly (14), using four washers (9) and four
screws (8), each side.
