TM 55-4920-328-13
al. Adjust the length of the assembled linkage
until rod end (82) aligns with the end hole in the lever
arm of the Nil slave unit, then tighten the nuts adjacent
to both rod ends.
aj. Install the rod end (82) on the Nl slave unit
(74), using the clevis pin (83), washer (84), and cotter
pin (85). Bend the legs of the cotter pin to secure the
installation.
ak. Manually move the Nil master control unit in
the control cab forward to the limit of travel and check to
ensure that the fuel control shaft moves through the
complete arc to contact the mechanical stop. Readjust
the Nil linkage until both the fuel control shaft and Nil
master control unit are in the fully-opened position at the
same time, and in the fully-closed position at the same
time.
al. Install the NI slave unit (86) in the bracket
(87), using three bolts (88), three washers (89), and
three nuts (90).
am. Position the NI master control unit in the
control cab to the fully closed (aft) position. The NI
slave unit arm must be 45 degrees above horizontal. If
the arm position is not as specified, adjust the hydraulic
loop as specified in chapter 6 of this technical manual.
an. Rotate the engine gas generator fuel control
shaft counterclockwise to the limit of travel.
ao. Position the linkage arm assembly (91) 45
degrees above horizontal, tighten the nut (92), and
reinstall the cotter pin (93). Bend the legs of the cotter
pin to secure the installation.
ap. Accomplish the procedures specified in
paragraph 2-9, steps (a) through (o).
aq. Adjust the length of the NI linkage so that the
hole in the rod end (94) aligns with the end hole in the
lever arm of the NI slave unit (86). Tighten the nuts
against both rod ends. Install the clevis pin (95), washer
(96), and cotter pin (97). Bend the legs of the cotter pin
to secure the installation.
ar. Position the NI master control unit in the
control cab fully forward to the limit of travel. Ensure
that the gas generator power lever is against the
mechanical stop. If the lever is not in the specified
position, readjust the linkage until the fully opened and
fully closed positions are attained. Retract the NI
master control unit to the fully closed (aft) position after
adjustments are accomplished.
as. Loosen the setscrew (98) in the arm assembly
(99) and rotate the input shaft of the transmitter (100) to
obtain 0 degrees on the THROTTLE POSITION
indicator assembly on the operator's panel assembly in
the control cab.
at. If required, adjust the length of the linkage
between the linkage arm assembly (91) and the arm
assembly (99) without disturbing the preset positions,
tighten the nuts adjacent to the rod ends. If adjustment
is required, remove one cotter pin and washer, adjust
the linkage, reinstall the washer, and install a new cotter
pin. Bend the legs of the cotter pin to secure the
installation.
au. Push the NI master control unit in the control
cab forward until the pointer on the engine gas
generator power lever shaft is in the IDLE position.
Observe that the THROTTLE POSITION indicator
displays approximately 17 degrees. Record this reading
for use at engine start as outlined in chapter 3 of this
technical manual.
av. Push the NI master control unit forward to the
full open position. The THROTTLE POSITION indicator
must display a reading of no more than 97 degrees. If
the reading displayed is more than 97 degrees, the fuel
control stops must be readjusted before continuing with
this procedure.
aw. Pull out the T-handle on the hydraulic start
unit (51) to the limit of travel.
ax. Install the four vibration filters (101) in the
vibration meter (102).
ay. Place all overboard drain hose assemblies in
containers approved by the Safety Officer.
az. Service the engine oil system as specified in
the appropriate engine technical manual.
ba. Recheck the installation of hose assemblies
and cable assemblies, using table 2-12 as a guide.
bb. If required and the engine is ready for test,
remove the protective cover from the engine exhaust
case.
bc. Accomplish the procedures specified in
paragraph 2-9 starting with step (p).
bd. Test the engine in accordance with the
procedures specified in chapter 3 of this technical
manual.
