TM 1-1510-262-10
8-31. DESCENT-ARRIVAL.
Refer to Chapter 7 for performance data. Perform the following checks prior to entering the terminal area for ap-
proach/landing:
Vmo may be easily exceeded when descending from high altitude. The pilot should frequently cross
check the airspeed limit indicators to avoid exceeding Vmo. Exceeding Vne/Mmo could result in
structural failure and loss of airframe integrity.
! CABIN CONTROLLER -- Set.
@ ICE & RAIN switches -- As required.
Set windshield anti-ice to NORMAL or HIGH as required well before descent into icing conditions
or into warm moist air to aid in defogging. Turn off windshield anti-ice when descent is completed
to lower altitudes and when heating is no longer required. This will preclude possible windscreen
distortions.
# WINDSHIELD anti-ice -- As required.
4. RECOG lights -- As required.
5. Altimeters -- Set to current altimeter setting.
^ CMWS -- As required.
& TCAS -- Set as required.
8-32. APPROACH.
Conduct this check prior to executing the approach or entering the trafic pattern as appropriate.
! NAV SOURCE -- As required.
@ ESIS -- NAV source select.
# RA/DA -- Set.
$ V Speeds -- Check/Set.
8-33. BEFORE LANDING.
Complete this check prior to FAF or descending below base leg altitude for visual approaches.
1. PROP SYNC switch -- As required.
# FLAPS (below 197 KIAS) -- APPROACH.
4. LDG GEAR CONTROL handle (below 179 KIAS) -- DN.
5. LANDING LIGHTS switch -- As required.
^ AUTOFEATHER switch -- ARM.
& ICE VANE CONTROL switches -- As required.
* BRAKE DEICE -- As required.
( ANT STOWED annunciator light -- Check illuminated.
