Section VII. REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
6-32. General.
Removal and installation of METS components and
detail parts is accomplished in accordance with good
shop practice. Figures 7-2 through 7-31 illustrate the
components comprising the system. Figures 7-32
through 7-43 depict the components contained in the six
engine accessories kits. Refer to the appropriate
illustration
and
Group
Assembly
Parts
List
for
information on part identity and order of disassembly. In
addition, the Group Assembly Parts List provide vendor
coding information by use of a 5-digit code number.
These numbers are listed in table 7-1 by the vendor's
name and address, as an aid to procurement. Figures
FO-1,
2-1,
and
2-6
provide
information
on
interconnection of cable assemblies in the system.
Figures FO-2 through FO-28 depict the wiring in the
electrical circuits in schematic form.
6-33. METS System Components.
Remove and install METS system components in
accordance with the following:
a.
Disassemble the sub-module or assembly only
to the extent required to gain access to a defective part;
periodic or complete disassembly of units is not required
except for water brake assemblies contained in the
engine accessories kits.
b.
Observe all precautions delineated in this
section during maintenance actions.
c.
When repairing or replacing individual wire runs
in sub-module assemblies or cable assemblies, solder
the applicable termination using the solder specified in
table 1-8. Cut the appropriate length of shrink tubing for
solder joint protection and shrink the tubing in place,
using a heat gun set at a heat range not to exceed
350F.
d.
Install solder sleeves using a Zap gun in
accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, and in
accordance with good shop practice.
e.
At installation, tighten attaching parts and tube
fittings in accordance with the applicable torque values
specified in table 6-5.
f.
Prior to removal of instrumentation, isolate the
suspect unit by performing the applicable checkout
instructions contained in this manual. After removal,
route the defective unit to the facility instrument repair
shop.
g.
After
installation
of
a
component,
when
appropriate, adjust or calibrate the unit as described in
TB 55-4920-328-50.
