(1) Tool operation. In operation, hydraulic pressure supplied by the portable hydraulic power supply is converted into
mechanical movement. The mechanical movement is of sufficient force to cause die segments contained within the
swaging tool to perform the swaging function. The swaging tool is designed to operate over a range of tubing sizes and
types of fittings by changing die block assemblies and/or fitting locators. The die block assemblies are supplied in sets
consisting of upper and lower die blocks, dies, and locators. The lower die block is retained on the basic swage tool
assembly to assure automatic retraction and consistent repeatability. The upper die block assembly is removable for
easy loading (see figure 4-84).
(2) Procedure. The swaging procedure can be completed using the following general Instructions as a guide.
(a) Connect hydraulic pressure line from hydraulic power supply to fitting on base of swaging tool.
