d. Obtain a container of adequate capacity to
contain waste oil and place the container under the drain
plug (8, figure 1-12).
e. Remove the drain plug (8) and allow the
residual oil to drain into the container, then replace the
drain plug.
f. Verify that the ENGINE LOW OIL LEVEL
indicator (17, figure 1-25) comes on.
g. Remove the fill cap, vent, and strainer (15,
figure 1-12) from the oil reservoir and add oil to the
reservoir using Specification MIL-L-23699 oil sufficiently
to cause the ENGINE LOW OIL LEVEL indicator to go
off.
h. Place the manual selector valve (10) in the
T53 position.
i. Open the manual shutoff valve (1).
j. Connect a hose assembly between the oil
supply and oil return quick-disconnects (4) to allow the
oil to recirculate through the system.
k. Disconnect the oil supply line (16) and the oil
return line (18) and allow both lines to drain into a
suitable waste oil container.
NOTE
No damage will occur to the motor and
pump assembly (7, figure 1-12) when
the residual oil has been completely
pumped from the system lines and
reservoir.
I. Energize the OIL PUMP START switch (15,
figure 1-26) and allow the residual oil to discharge into
the waste oil container. When the ENGINE LOW OIL
LEVEL indicator (17, figure 1-25) comes on, depress the
OIL PUMP STOP switch (23, figure 1-26).
m. Add Specification MIL-L-23699 oil to the
system oil reservoir until the ENGINE LOW OIL LEVEL
indicator (17, figure 1-25) on services panel assembly
4A1 goes off.
n. Place the manual selector valve (10, figure 1-
12) in the T74 position.
o. Energize the OIL PUMP START switch (15,
figure 1-26) and allow the residual oil to discharge into
the waste oil container. When the ENGINE LOW OIL
LEVEL indicator (17, figure 1-25) comes on, depress the
OIL PUMP STOP switch (23, figure 1-26).
p. Add Specification MIL-L-23699 oil to the
system oil reservoir until the ENGINE LOW OIL LEVEL
indicator (17, figure 1-25) on services panel assembly
4A1 goes off.
q. Place the manual selector valve (10, figure 1-
12) in the T63 position.
r. Energize the OIL PUMP START switch (15,
figure 1-26) and allow the residual oil to discharge into
the waste oil container. When the ENGINE LOW OIL
LEVEL indicator (17, figure 1-25) comes on, depress the
OIL PUMP STOP switch (23, figure 1-26).
s. Remove the drain plug (8, figure 1-12) and
allow the waste oil to drain into the container. Install the
drain plug when the oil reservoir has completely drained.
t. Remove the hose assembly from the oil supply
and oil return quick-disconnects (4).
u. Connect the oil supply line (16) and oil return
line (18) disconnected in step (k). v. Deenergize the
following switchlight units on services panel assembly
4A1 (9, figure 1-25):
ENGINE DC (27)
115 VAC 400 HZ (28)
INST DC (29)
CONSOLE DC (30)
26 VAC 400 HZ (31)
w. Depress the INS' PWR OFF switch (31, figure
1-26).
x. Deenergize the diesel engine ac generator set
as specified in chapter 2, Preliminary Checkout Prior to
Test paragraph.
y. Service the test trailer oil system as outlined in
