(6) Torque nuts (30) to 45-50 inch-pounds.

For T700-GE-701C engine model, install the
engine hydromechanical control unit (HMU) if it was
removed (refer to TM55-2840-248-23), and assemble
variable stator transmitter assembly (56) as follows:
(1)
Remove
four
bolts
(54)
from
stator
transmitter bracket (55).
(2)
Install stator transmitter bracket (55) onto
mainframe 3 o'clock strut flange with four bolts (54).
Leave bolts (54). Loose.
NOTE
The No. 1 vane spindle is the first spindle to
the right (aft looking forward) of the
compressor splitline.
(4)
Thread shaft (23) onto the No, 1 vane
spindle until shaft is hand tight.
(5)
Slide vane clevis (24) down onto lever arm
of variable vane. Rotate shaft until the shaft screw hole
is aligned with the vane clevis hole. Install screw (25)
and tighten it securely.

Torque bolts (54) to 45-50 inch-pounds.

Assemble PAS and LDS position indicator as
follows:
(1)
Assemble PAS and LDS position indicators
to their common baseplate using four bolts (36) and four
washers (33). Leave bolts loose.
(2)
Position wide tooth of PAS spindle on HMU
at 9 o'clock position (aft looking forward).
(3)
Position wide tooth of LDS spindle on HMU
at 9 o'clock position (aft looking forward).
(4)
Set PAS position indicator by pulling rod to
fully expose shaft (34). Attach PAS cable (32, figure 2-
59) to shaft.
(5)
Set LDS position transmitter to lower stop.
This will fully expose shaft (34, figure 2-58). Attach LDS
cable (33, figure 2-59).
(6)
Align guide pins in baseplate with EMU, and
align female splines of PAS and LDS position indicators
with splined shaft of HMU LDS and PAS spindles. If
necessary, adjust female spline positions using LDS and
PAS cables.
